 Charities
The World Of Groggs has over the last 40 years donated thousands of Groggs to various charities. As a small family business we are however now struggling to keep up with the demand for donations of figures which we receive on a daily basis. Finding it hard to refuse any requests we have decided in future to designate certain charities every year in order to simplify things. The charities we are supporting this year are as follows:
· Welsh Rugby Former
International Players Association

· Cardiff Institute for the Blind

· The Noah’s Ark Appeal

· The Toby Lloyd Cockbain Foundation

· Breast Cancer Care

We hope you understand our position and realize it is not a personal decision but a simple financial fact of life that we can only do so much.
We wish you all the best in your fund raising events.

Gareth after signing the bust 27/2/2007
To celebrate Gareths 60th birthday Richard has created a bust, nine will be painted in unique strips and auctioned on behalf of the Cardiff Insitute for the Blind of which Gareth is the Patron. In discussion with Gareth we have decided on some classic strips and some rare and unusual ones. The Lions, Cardiff and Barbarian are obvious choices but Gareth has also suggested the Wales /England quartered centenary strip, the World XV strip from South Africa 1977 and East Wales V New Zealand 1967. We will be unveiling these very unusual and highly collectable busts prior to
Cardiff Institute for the Blind

On Friday the 20th October 2006 The Cardiff Institute for the Blind hosted a fund raising dinner at the Marriot hotel in Cardiff. As one of our designated charities the World of Groggs, in conjunction with the family of Gareth Edwards, donated to the auction one of the rarest figures ever made at the Groggshop.
The “Hand-off Gareth Edwards” was made to commemorate the 30th anniversary of the opening of the Groggshop. This also coincided with the 30th anniversary of the victorious Lions Tour of New Zealand in 1971 inspiring Richard’s choice in modeling Gareth’s famous hand-off of All Black fly half Bob Burgess in the Third test at Wellington. As unhappy Grogg collectors are only too aware only thirty of these pieces were produced and sold before the mould was destroyed. This is the last chance anyone will ever have of possessing this iconic piece of sporting history.

26th January 2006
A unique opportunity to acquire one of the most desirable figures we have ever made presented itself on January 26th at the Tower Hotel Swansea in aid of the Toby Lloyd Cockbain Foundation. As Grogg collectors may recall we reserved the 1st Edition of Double Grand Slam figure, featuring Wales' two captains Gareth Thomas and Michael Owen, the very low limit of 151 sold out in only 2 and a half days leaving many Grogg Collectors disappointed.
Kate Cockbain had paitently collected all the Grand Slam teams signatures on this unforgetable piece of rugby memorabilia making it a priceless reminder of Wales' awesome Grand Slam in 2005.
Jonathan Davies
A special set of Jonathan Davies Groggs will be auctioned at the Holland House tomorrow night (08/12) reflecting Jonathans career in rugby union. This set is completely unique and will not be reproduced. We hope it raises a generous amount for a very worthy cause - The Noah's Ark Appeal.
Cardiff Institute for the Blind

A special figure was created for the Cardiff Institute for the Blind’s fund raising dinner at the Marriot on the 28th of October 2005. As Gareth Edwards is the Patron of the CIB we produced a unique and permanent reminder of the most memorable moment in Gareth’s illustrious career. No-one could forget the 75 yard try Gareth scored against Scotland in 1972, but recreating the mud splattered end result proved a little more difficult. It seemed almost sacrilege to cover Gareth in the famous Arms Park red mud but the end result was so effective that Mr David Pearns paid £1500 for this very singular Grogg!
Showing Gareth Edwards just after scoring his amazing 75 yard try against Scotland in 1972 which Gareth declared as his greatest moment. This is the only Groggshop figure which will be produced with the famous red mud spattered finish - an iconic image in sporting history.
The inscription on the base is the famous quotation from Spike Milligan on witnessing this never to be forgotten and spectacular solo try.
'"They should build a b*****y cathedral on the spot!"
