On the 27th of January 1973, almost fifty years ago, the 7th All Blacks played their final game of a long and gruelling tour of the UK and Ireland against the Barbarians at the National Stadium Cardiff. What happened that day has gone down in sporting history as one of the greatest rugby matches ever played and one iconic moment in particular has inspired generations of rugby players and supporters ever since.
With the 50th anniversary in mind, I have created a piece to celebrate that incredible try and the dreams of one particular 13 year old boy have finally been realised. The figure, entitled “The Greatest Try”, will be released on Friday the 27th of January 2023.
