Y Ddraig Goch
The reason Wales has a red dragon on its flag is supposed to date back to the original Britons and their battles with the Anglo Saxon invaders. One legend has the King of the Britons, Vortigern or Gwrtheyrn in Welsh, who is supposed to have witnessed a battle between two dragons, one red and one white. The dragons were released from beneath the earth by the King as they were disturbing the ground he was trying to build a castle on near Dinas Emrys in Gwynedd. Once released the dragons flew into the air and a great battle ensued which was eventually won by the red dragon. The red dragon has since then been associated with Wales which was considered to be one of the last bastions of the ancient Britons. The legend was also linked with Uther Pendragon, father of King Arthur of the Britons.
However Wales came by their Draig Goch is lost in legend but we in Wales believe it’s the best flag in the World and as we say in Wales…. Y Ddraig Goch Ddyry Cychwyn!!!!
Therefore, as part of our 60th anniversary celebration, I have created a new Limited Edition Dragon inspired by our wonderful flag.
