Ray Gravell played 12 times for the famous invitational team…. The Barbarians.
Playing for them first in 1975, Grav was also selected against an Australia XV at the start of 1976. On their tour of Canada later that year Ray appeared in six of their matches. In 1977 the Scarlets Legend played his final match for the Barbarians in a star studded team which faced the returning 1977 British & Irish Lions in a charity match to celebrating Queen Elizabeth’s Silver Jubilee. During the historic encounter at Twickenham Ray scored one of his three tries for the Barbarians in a game which will remembered as a classic match.
